University ‘Volcano’ Erupts

More than 40 thousand people made University Stadium quiver with ‘Autenticos Tigres’ triumph in a nigh full of emotions, celebrations which were headed by Governor Rodrigo Medina de la Cruz and UANL President Jesus Ancer Rodriguez.

Around 44 thousand fans quivered during the National Student Organization of American Football (ONEFA, Spanish abbreviation), where the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon (UANL) ‘Tigres’ defeated the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM) ‘Pumas’ for being champions after 32 years.

All fans were arriving at University Stadium from 17:00 o’clock in order to enjoy musical groups which entertained that night, in an event before American Football final, an emblematic sport of all Mexico’s university community.

All UANL schools and high schools students were there supporting feline ones with signs, even with the famous rhythm for making the sport event more enjoyable.

A LUXURY FAN

Governor Rodrigo Medina de la Cruz joined supporting screams for ‘Autenticos Tigres’ and with doctor Jesus Ancer Rodriguez cheered all fans up for encouraging felines to get the victory.

Nuevo Leon Leading Academic Institution President –at the beginning of the game- said that ONEFA final would be difficult; however, he said he trusted ‘Autenticos Tigres’’ work which was made during all the year for being here.

Doctor Jesus Ancer Rodriguez and doctor Jose Narro Robles, who are UANL and UNAM Presidents, started the game with the kickoff-opening and subsequently, the exchange participating football teams’ flags.

Even though, there were many fans supporting UANM football team in the University Stadium, UANL football team fans did not stop of creaming supporting feline football team, so visiting team went unnoticed.

Fans were not so excited at the first half of the game, but when the score was benefiting –clearly- for ‘Autenticos Tigres’, they got more excited as well as the environment and fireworks were exploding when felines score a touch down.

In the last quarter of the game –with a considerable advantage in the score and with just three minutes to finish the great final- some Tigres team players started to congratulate each other, and t-shirts –with champion inscription- distribution started, so the celebration started.

Pedro Morales, Charge Trainer, received the traditional shower by his players and he looked so excited, he asked journalists to be calm, when they were asking him what he was thinking of the game, missing two minutes to be finished.

So, Governor Rodrigo Medina de la Cruz, UANL President Jesus Ancer Rodriguez and engineer Jose Antonio Gonzalez Treviño, who is Nuevo Leon Education Secretary and UANL Ex President, celebrated the national championship.
