As a homage to Professor Esteban Gonzalez Ardines´ — who passed away on February 1st, 2009 — academic and professional trajectory, the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon’s (UANL) School of Law and Criminology (Spanish abbreviation FACDyC) unveiled a plaque in the Digital Library with the name of the eminent jurist.
Taking into account that Esteban Gonzalez Ardines, LL.B, was this library’s head from 1966 to 1967, this is a quite meaningful event. The ceremony was presided over by Doctor Jose Luis Prado Maillard — FACDyC´s President— on November 19th. He was accompanied by Mrs. Guadalupe Quiroga Villarreal de Gonzalez.
Mr. Esteban Gonzalez Ardines´ wife was escorted by her sons: Esteban Odon, Sandra Guadalupe, Angela Gabriela, Claudia Catalina, and Fabian Carlo, as well as by brothers, grandchildren, and other relatives. The FACDyC´s faculty members were also at the ceremony.
A DESERVED TRIBUTE
Esteban Gonzalez Ardines was in charge of the Attorney’s Office during the Socrates Rizzo Garcia’s government. His charisma, modesty, and responsibility represented key factors to moderate the State’s judicial system’s problems at that time.
“It is an honor to celebrate such an important figure of the legal field like Professor Esteban Gonzalez Ardines, whose performance was excellent regarding his expertise in the practice of law as a private attorney general and in benefit of the public interest,” said Prado Maillard.
Esteban Gonzalez Quiroga thanked the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon for the homage to his father by naming the FACDyC´s Digital Library after him, which was Jesus Villarreal Martinez´ — current head of this information center — idea.
“On behalf of my family, I express our perennial gratitude to this generous gesture. My father was a real lawyer, and lawyer of lawyers; he was the fourth generation of lawyers in the family, all of which proudly graduated — though from different venues and under different specialties— from this very school,” said in excitement.
His father Esteban Gonzalez was a student and professor; his grandfather, Hector Gonzalez Gonzalez was student, professor, Head of the School and President of the UANL; his great-grandfather, Esteban Gonzalez Solis was student and professor.
“I am not sure of which out of all the aspects he developed gave him the greatest satisfaction, but I am certain of his love to books, law, and this school. He would have been very proud of the fact that his name will be immortalized in this Digital Library — of which his was in charge in his youth years— which is inaugurated today,” mentioned Esteban Gonzalez Quiroga.
