The State’s capital first block has already a remembrance of its great moments.
The book “Relatos y recuerdos: calles y centro de Monterrey” by Jesus Guajardo Mass was presented in the October 28th night at the “Colegio Civil” University Cultural Center “Francisco Zertuche” room.
This work talks about, from the chronicle of several Nuevo Leon’s settings. It describes the city’s historic sites, how the road and residential infrastructure was developed, as well as how places that disappeared, for instance, the five movie theaters on Madero Avenue.
Maria Eugenia Llamas, Enriqueta Medina, Ricardo Elizondo Elizondo, and the author were in charge of the publishing’s comments.
“This book is a testimony of an inhabitant who lived at the happenings place,” said Guajardo Mass, architect by profession, at the moment of invoking his yearns in Nuevo Leon’s lands.
“I hope this book is useful for the coming generations which are now spread in other municipalities, as well as for the young people to get to know how the city was,” he assured.
For Maria Eugenia Llamas this book evokes what happened in those places and she firmly concludes “it is a very enjoyable book.”
On the other hand, Enriqueta Medina considers that “in the book we find a complete description of the city’s first block (…) with a narration sprinkled with humorous comments that makes us smile.”
