The Board of Government appointed Jesus Ancer Rodriguez as Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon President for a first period of three years; he will take this position in a solemn session on October 28th.

Doctor Jesus Ancer Rodriguez was appointed –by the Board of Government- as Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon President for 2009-2012 period, a unanimous decision taken by the eleven members of this collegiate body.

The appointment was made official by Professor Gudalupe Evaristo Cedillo Garza, Board of Government president. The position will be taken by Doctor Ancer Rodriguez from October 28th, when he swears before the University Board in a solemn session.

Ancer Rodriguez, who was Secretary General, is a university member with 29 years of experience in the Leading Academic Institution, where he has been working in different positions, from laboratory head to School of Medicine principal and “Jose Eleuterio” Gonzalez University Hospital Director.

After a transition process with four applicants for UANL President, Board of Government members, decided to give this honorable position to Jesus Ancer Rodriguez, who was punctual to receive the notification in the Board of Government facilities.

“Doctor Jesus Ancer Rodriguez, Secretary General and UANL Acting President, the Board of Government agreed unanimously to appoint you as the UANL President -in a meeting on October 22nd, 2009- for 2009-2012 period, this appointment will be effective when this board take from you the law protest,” read professor Cedillo Garza.

For fulfilling all this, the elect president must call the University Board on October 28th for swearing.

“Today, I receive this notification that I know I have to swear, but it is already a commitment, a responsibility and an achievement; I am acquiring a commitment –when I swear- that this University keeps growing and highlighting our state and country, not by only one person, but all together,” there were doctor Ancer Rodriguez’ first words.

He also said that his working plan is inclusive, equitable and with a specific objective: that the Leading Academic Institution is a public relevant institution with social responsibility and quality.

“That is going to be my solidarity commitment to society; an active commitment for encouraging the truth flame and we can get all best places for UANL, I must recognize that University’s attitude was mature,” he said.

He said –before the local press- he will work on increasing academic programs through distance education, strengthening continuous education and higher intermediate education, post-degree studies will be supported and a sustainability and environment area will be created.

“There will be a complete opening for the University and we will integrate a permanent process of communication with mass media and society; but the most important thing is creating the continuous education, sustainability and environment area as well as attention for physically handicapped people, post-degree studies and research,” he said.

We have to mention that engineer Rogelio Garza Rivera, Center for Innovation, Research and Engineering and Technology Development (CIIDIT, Spanish abbreviation), doctor Ubaldo Ortiz Mendez, Academic Secretary and accountant Juan Manuel Luna, School of Accounting and Business Administration (FACPYA, Spanish abbreviation) retired professor participated in this electing process too.
